This Challenge aims to boost the competitiveness of the European transport industries and achieve a European transport system that is resource-efficient, climate-and-environmentally-friendly, safe and seamless for the benefit of all citizens, the economy and society.
Projects will help transport become more resource efficent and environmentally-friendly, by making aircraft, vehicles and vessels cleaner and quieter. Transport and mobility in urban areas are also addressed.

About 937.55 million euros are allocated for these calls under the 2016-2017 programme.
Various Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs), Joint Undertakings (JU) and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) have been created in the transport sector.
